Akiva Goldsman producing 'Paranormal 2'

Akiva Goldsman will produce but not direct the forthcoming Paranormal Activity 2.

Goldsman, who was linked to the vacant director's chair on the horror project, has instead signed on as executive producer, says Deadline. Paramount is still searching for a director for the sequel.

Goldsman is also helping writers Oren Peli, Jason Blum and Steven Schneider with the update's story.

The studio is apparently planning to release Paranormal Activity 2 on October 22, the same day as Saw 3D.
