The Hollywood Reporter has described the project as a "sexagenarian romantic comedy".
The film centres on an ageing couple who react to their senior status in different ways.
The project is to be produced by Gaumont and will be overseen by French writer-director Julie Gavras.
Along with the two leads, the movie will also star UK actors Doreen Mantle, Kate Ashfield, Joanna Lumley and Simon Callow.
