Vinnie Jones has knocked film bosses for choosing to release Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball straight to DVD rather than giving it a run in cinemas.

The footballer-turned-actor played hitman Finbar McTeague opposite Tom Berenger and Sofia Vergara in the sequel to director Joe Carnahan's 2006 original.

The movie was released on DVD in January, and Jones has now revealed his annoyance at Universal's decision to pass over the film.

He told The Mirror: "I'm really proud of it because it's a brilliant movie, but from day one it was straight to DVD.

"I asked the bigwigs at the film company why, and they just said, 'That's business'. It's a bit of a b*llock-ache."
