David Baddiel has revealed details of an unproduced script he wrote for The Breakfast Club director John Hughes.
The British comic and writer, whose film The Infidel opens in the UK on April 9, told Digital Spy that he was hired by Hughes to write a script titled Forsaking All Others in the early '90s.
"It was about a couple who had been together since they were kids and at the start of the movie they announce to their friends that they're going to get married," Baddiel said. "In the first part of the movie the man and the woman, who are 22, panic because they've never had sex with anyone else. Eventually they come up with a legal deal that allows them to date [other people] for six months, as long as whatever happens they still get married at the end of it."
Baddiel also recalled his first meeting with Hughes, who passed away last year, at a London hotel.
"I got to Claridges and they wouldn't let me in to meet him without a tie. I had to put a tie over my t-shirt and they gave me a jacket as well!" he said. "Actually, it's not a bad script, it's a bit juvenile looking at it now and if I did it again I'd change it a lot."
