Father of the Bride actor Steve Martin is to be awarded with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour.
Martin follows in the footsteps of past recipients including Whoopi Goldberg, Carl Reiner and Richard Pryor. and will be presented with the award by the John F. Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts, reports BBC News.
A spokesperson said: "His creations, be they on stage, on film or in a book, have created a collective memory of humour and joy for all Americans."
Martin can soon be seen in a prequel to The Pink Panther series of films, in which he will fill the shoes of Peter Sellers as the bungling Inspector Clouseau.
