According to Variety, the Green Zone helmer is circling the sci-fi project, backed by Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment.
The original Fantastic Voyage was released in 1966. It starred Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence.
The 1960s version centered on a team of specialists who board a miniaturized submarine that is injected into a man's body to clear up a blood clot.
The update would be shot in 3D and use the same technology and process seen in producer Cameron's Avatar.
Greengrass also directed the last two Bourne movies.
