Beatty sues over 'Dick Tracy'

Warren Beatty is suing Tribune Media Services for the rights to Dick Tracy.
Beatty's plans to make another movie based on the character are being obstructed by Tribune, who claim that they control the rights. He is retaliating by suing them for $30 million for breach of a 1985 agreement.
The terms of the agreement allowed him to take control of the character until the Tribune requested return of the rights, subject to conditions and a two years' notice.
Beatty gave the rights to Disney with whom he made and starred in 1990's Dick Tracy movie. He now alleges that Tribute took back the rights, but not under the conditions of the agreement.
ABC News quote Beatty's lawyer, Bertram Fields, as saying: "It was very carefully done and they just ignored it.
The Tribune is a big, powerful company and they think they can just run roughshod over people. They picked the wrong guy."
