Thompson confirms 'Basic Instinct' audition

The award-winning actress lost the lead role in the 1992 blockbuster to Sharon Stone.
Showbiz Spy quotes her as saying: "It's all a bit of a myth. It's true that I did audition for Basic Instinct.
"But I could never have pulled it off - excuse the expression - as good as Sharon."
