According to Coming Soon, the duo are teaming with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub for National Treasure 3.
The first two National Treasure films earned more than $800m (£523m) at the worldwide box office combined. Both instalments starred Nicolas Cage as an adventurous treasure hunter.
It is unclear if Cage has signed to reprise his role, but all of the key franchise cast members, including Justin Bartha and Jon Voight, are expected to return for the project.
Bernard and Miro also co-wrote the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
The screenwriters announced the news at the San Francisco WonderCon.
