The 1984 cult classic, which recently enjoyed a successful run as a musical Off-Broadway, will return to the big screen under Original Media producers Akiva Goldsman, Richard Saperstein and Charlie Corwin.
The film follows a wimpy mop boy named Melvin who gets bullied and thrown into a vat of toxic waste, which transforms him into a misshapen superhero. Melvin then bulks up and dedicates himself to wreaking havoc on the polluters of New Jersey.
Writers for the script have yet to be hired and there is no word yet on a potential director.
