The Oscar-winning filmmaker has emerged as the frontrunner to direct the final two movies in Summit Entertainment's popular vampire series, according to Deadline. Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant, Fernando Meirelles and Stephen Daldry had earlier been shortlisted for the job.
Condon, who is also the director behind Gods And Monsters and Kinsey, is likely to push back his Marlon Wayans-led Richard Pryor biopic and Salmon Fishing In The Yemen to work on Dawn.
The third film in the franchise, Eclipse, is due out this summer.
