The actor is helming romantic comedy Love, Wedding, Marriage, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Mulroney's cast includes Mandy Moore, Twilight's Kellan Lutz, James Brolin and Jane Seymour.
The movie centres on a marriage counselor (Moore) who is stunned to learn that her parents are headed for a divorce. She manipulates her friends and family into helping her get them back together.
The film is expected to begin production on April 19 in Louisiana. It is said that the title may also change to Keep it Together.
Mulroney recently landed the lead role in the CBS remake of The Rockford Files.
