According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Parks and Recreation star is in talks for the film, produced by Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld.
The movie is written by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan. Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer has signed to direct.
The film involves a history teacher (possibly Ansari) and a pizza delivery man who are forced to become felons when one becomes strapped to a bomb vest.
Comedic actor Danny McBride is also in talks for a part in the picture.
Universal Pictures picked up three movie pitches from Ansari and writer Jason Woliner last year.
