Columbia Pictures and director Bennett Miller are to begin production on baseball comedy Moneyball this summer.

Moneyball will start filming in June, reports Deadline Hollywood. The film's start date was reportedly delayed due to budget problems.

TV producer Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Studio 60) penned the film's screenplay, based on the book Moneyball: The Art to Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis.

Brad Pitt is rumoured to star as former Oakland A's manager Billy Beane in the project. Jonah Hill has signed to play statistician Paul DePodesta.
