Craig Brewer to direct 'Footloose' remake

Chace Crawford is no longer starring in the lead role due to a scheduling conflict with his TV show Gossip Girl. One of Brewer's first tasks will be to bring onboard a new male star.
The project, based on Kevin Bacon's 1984 film that took place in a town where dancing was outlawed, had Zac Efron and his High School Musical director Kenny Ortega attached to it in a previous incarnation.
The new Footloose is expected to start shooting this summer.
