Wright is penning two films based on the first two books in James A. Owen's fantasy series, Here, There Be Dragons and The Search for the Red Dragon, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The books feature a young J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis as protagonists.
Lord of the Rings co-producer Rick Porras has also boarded the feature film projects as producer.
Wright co-wrote the 2008 Shia LaBeouf thriller Eagle Eye.
