Speaking to MTV, the Robocop and Starship Troopers director revealed that he was adapting a video game, but he did not reveal the name of the game.
"I am working on a movie now that is... situated in 1914. Basically, Indiana Jones-ish you could say, but also Hitchcockian," Verhoeven said.
He added: "We are scripting it. It's an idea that exists already... from another medium, and so we are making it now into a film narrative."
When asked which medium the story came from, Verhoeven said," A game, a video game."
Slashfilm speculates that the game is The Last Express, from the creator of Prince of Persia.
The adventure game is set on the Orient Express in 1914.
