Curtis Hanson is reportedly in talks to helm the story of a drug crackdown in a small Missouri town.

According to Deadline, the Oscar winner is nearing a deal to direct the film, written by Clark Gregg.

The movie's story is based on Bill Anthony Jakob, a 36-year-old bank security guard who posed as a law enforcement officer to help clean up a scourge of meth labs in the town.

Jakob was exposed and indicted on a 23-count federal indictment for impersonating an officer of the law. He optioned the rights to his story in 2008 when his effort made national news.

A production start date and casting details have not yet been announced.
