Producer Ken F. Levin is to bring Garth Ennis's zombie comic Crossed to the big screen.

According to Variety, Levin has enlisted the help of Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street Productions, Michael De Luca and Jason Netter to help independently finance and produce the film.

Published by Avatar Press in 2008, the creator-owned comic follows a group of survivors of a zombie-like pandemic. The plague causes victims to carry out their most evil desires and marks them with a cross-type rash.

The series will initially be written by Ennis and drawn by Jacen Burrows. A follow-up titled Crossed: Family Values, penned by David Lapham and illustrated by Javier Barreno, is in the works.

A script written by Ennis is currently being shown to potential directors.
