Sandra Bullock has been asked to return her 'Worst Actress' Razzie Award after organisers discovered that she was accidentally given the original gong.

The actress, who made history by winning the Oscar for 'Best Actress' in the same year as the industry booby prize, now has the "priceless original" at her home.

Bullock delighted audiences and organisers of the awards by turning up in person to collect her prize for the worst performance of the year.

However, instead of receiving a cheap replica she made off with the 30-year-old original, worth thousands as a rare collector's piece.

Awards co-founder John Wilson told The Daily Telegraph: "We are ready to take the unprecedented step of asking a winner to return a Razzie. As Sandra was in such a rush after winning 'Worst Actress' she ran off with the original handmade prototype which has been present at ceremonies since the 1980s."

Bullock said after winning her Oscar that she would build a joint display for both awards.
