The 41-year-old joins Kellan Lutz and Samuel L. Jackson in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
First-time director Jonah Loop is helming Deathgames.
The story centres on a young man (Lutz) who is forced to compete against other men in a modern gladiator arena after being kidnapped by a sadistic villain (Jackson).
Kim has landed the role of a fellow gladiator prisoner who is also a master of kendo, or samurai-style sword fighting.
Production is to begin next month in Louisiana.
