According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has moved the movie's release from October 8 to July 11, 2011 to take advantage of "a more lucrative box office play period".
"It's got tremendous heart and soul," said Sony distribution president Rory Bruer.
"And talking animals? Gimme a break, it's so funny."
The film's voice cast features Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Cher and Rosario Dawson.
