According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is directed by first-time filmmaker Michael Brandt, the co-writer of Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma.
The plot centres on a retired CIA operative (Gere) forced to partner with a young FBI agent (Grace) to track down a senator's murderer.
It is said that Brandt hopes Double will follow in the tradition of classic suspense films like The Conversation and Three Days of the Condor.
Gere was recently seen in Brooklyn's Finest. Grace will appear in the upcoming Predators.
