Donald Trump has reportedly turned down a role in Mel Gibson's latest movie.

The film, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, focuses on a man who is sent to a violent Mexican prison and learns to survive thanks to the help of a 9-year-old boy.

However, the New York Post says that Trump has decided not to play himself in the film because of his busy schedule.

"The problem is the movie is being shot in Mexico," a source explained. "Aside from the major security concerns in the country, it would take a lot of Donald's time."

Gibson is reportedly still hopeful that he can persuade the businessman to star in the movie and sent him a script with the note, "See page 73".

He added: "Hey baby! Sorry I'm speaking Hollywood! Hope you enjoy. There'll be no rough stuff. We'll use a double."

The movie sparked controversy last year when it emerged that prisoners would be transferred to make way for production.
