The screenwriter's husband, chatshow host Jonathan Ross, revealed the news on his Twitter page.
"The wife is away writing X-Men 4 so I am off to bed with [my dog] little Sweeney alone. He will keep my feet warm and my spirits high," he wrote.
After tweets from followers inquiring about the superhero movie, Ross later replied: "I am afraid I better not answer any more queries re X-Men First Class for fear of spoilers and also possible divorce."
Goldman also co-wrote the script for Stardust with Vaughn.
X-Men: First Class will open in cinemas on June 3, 2011.
