Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed up to star in a movie adaptation of video game Alice for Universal Pictures.

The game, created by American McGee for Electronic Arts, allowed players to explore an alternate version of the strange world of Lewis Carroll's Alice.

The film, to be directed by Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), will see the Buffy star play the title character, who must return to a twisted Wonderland and face her fears before returning to normal life following the destruction of her home and family, reports Variety.
