Katie Holmes shunned by 'Batman' sequel
Published Tuesday, Jun 21 2005, 09:27 BST | By Daniel Saney

The actress has reportedly made herself unpopular with her highly-publicised relationship with and engagement to War of the Worlds star Tom Cruise. Interest in her private life has detracted from the public's anticipation of the movie.
However, stars Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and Michael Caine (Alfred) have all signed on for the next outing. Pagesix.com quotes an insider as saying: "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman."
The source continued on the matter of Holmes: "She won't be in the sequel, the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom."
