Gemma Arterton is being lined up to replace Megan Fox in the Transformers film franchise, reports have claimed.

According to The Wrap, the Prince of Persia actress has already entered talks with director Michael Bay about being the female lead in the next movie.

Yesterday, it was announced that Fox will not be part of forthcoming instalment Transformers 3. She later insisted that it was her choice to bow out from her role as Mikaela Banes.

Transformers 3 is now expected to feature a new love interest for Shia LaBeouf's character Sam Witwicky.

Other actresses rumoured to be in the frame for the role are models Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker.
