Director Greg Arakki's genre-hopping supernatural teen flick, which had its world premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival, stars Dekker as a bisexual college student who discovers that the end of the world may be approaching.
Speaking to Digital Spy about the movie's potential for cult status, Dekker commented: "That's what I always thought it should be and what I've always dreamed of being in. Cult movies for the crazies. I think the film feels like it's not for everybody... but if you like it, you'll love it."
He continued: "People are like, 'describe it one word'. I'm like, the title, it's just Kaboom!"
The 22-year-old also admitted that some of the cast had reservations about filming sex scenes.
"We all had different feeling about it," he said. "Certain actors in the movie had done it before and others hadn't. I was fine with it. Gregg is very respectful and very careful about how it's shot and it's all closed set. As far as the nudity went, some of the sex scenes were intimidating because they are. But I was very comfortable!"
