Brian De Palma is making a prequel to his 1987 crime movie The Untouchables, Variety reports.
The original, starring Robert De Niro, Sean Connery and Kevin Costner, told the story of a group of men who set out to bring down Chicago crime boss Al Capone.
De Palma has rejoined producer Art Linson for The Untouchables: Capone Rising, with whom he also worked recently on The Black Dahlia.
The movie was penned by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Rounders) and will focus on Capone's arrival in Chicago, his rise to criminal power and his clashes with cop Johnny Malone, originally played by Connery.
