Universal Pictures has signed Tony Gilroy to write the screenplay for the third instalment in the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Ultimatum.
Gilroy, who adapted Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, was also behind Armageddon, The Devil's Advocate and Delores Claibourne.
Matt Damon is likely to reprise his lead role, though his participation is not yet confirmed, nor is there any word on a director.
