The actress, who reprises her role as Samantha Jones in this Friday's comedy sequel, told MTV that a third SATC film will depend on writer-director Michael Patrick King coming up with a good story idea.
She said: "I don't know if there will be a third. I hope there will be. I think there's more stories to be told. That's totally [Michael's] call."
Cattrall added that writing another film would be "daunting" for King, but insisted that Sex And The City will continue for as long as there is demand to see the characters.
"I think once we start repeating ourselves, it's time to say goodbye," she remarked. "Maybe that's in five years, maybe that's in ten. Who knows? I hope we can do it for as long as the audience is there and the characters are interesting and growing and changing."
