The latter film, a supernatural ghost story, had recently been shifted into a July 30 slot by Universal, the same date that Efron's girlfriend Hudgens's modern-day Beauty And The Beast reworking was due to hit cinemas.
A statement on the official Facebook page for Beastly said: "We've been hearing from fans, so we know that having both Zac and Vanessa's movies opening on the same day could be a real dilemma for people, so we are moving Beastly. We'll keep you posted on all the latest, so keep checking back here for all things Beastly."
A new date for Beastly has yet to be confirmed.
