According to MTV, Abel will co-star with Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer and Kevin Durand in the upcoming sci-fi thriller.
The movie centres on a group of young aliens living on Earth who are hunted by the people who destroyed their home planet.
Abel will play the social rival of Pettyfer's alien hero.
D.J. Caruso is helming the picture. Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay are attached to produce.
