'Hotel Rwanda' wins Humanitas Prize
The writers behind Hotel Rwanda have won the annual Humanitas Prize.

Terry George and Keir Pearson received $25,000 (£14,000) at the Los Angeles ceremony, reports BBC News.

The prize is awarded to TV shows and films which tackle social issues, this year going to the writers of the film which portrays the horrific genocide that was allowed to go on in Rwanda in 1994 whilst the West turned a blind eye.

Pearson explained: "Everyone knew what was happening at the time, but all the great leaders of the West did nothing. This film was about an ordinary man, a hotel manager, who did do something and did something great."
