Speaking to Digital Spy at the UK premiere for the latest instalment in the comedy series, Nixon said that King needed to "take a breath" before thinking about making another sequel.
"We have to open the second one first and then Michael Patrick has to take a breath and think about whether he has another one in him to tell," Nixon said.
King admitted that a good storyline is the most important thing about writing for the Sex And The City characters: "It's not about box office, it's about the story. I love these characters, they're vibrant, as long as they keep growing and evolving who knows?"
However, the filmmaker said that he doesn't "have a thought in his head" about a potential direction for the sequel, adding: "I got them home from Abu Dhabi, that was as far as I was going to go in this movie!"
Star Kristin Davis admitted that London could make a good backdrop for further big screen SATC exploits.
"We've been talking about this and I think we should start a petition maybe," she commented. "It's a beautiful, beautiful city."
