The High School Musical star will receive the festival's 'Shining Star Award' this summer.
Event director Barry Rivers called the 22-year-old an "exemplary shining star", according to Gossip Cop.
The event kicks off on June 16 and will feature films including Cyrus starring Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei, and Nowhere Boy, a chronicle of John Lennon's childhood from director Sam Taylor-Wood.
Efron's next movie Charlie St. Cloud opens October 15 in US cinemas.
