Speaking to MTV, Carnahan revealed that he would "reimagine" Taskmaster, a villain with photographic reflexes, for the big screen.
"I think it might be one of those Marvel characters you really need to reimagine because he's got the whole skull and cape," he said about the character's appearance.
He added: "It's a bit grandiose I think - but it would certainly be a cool thing."
Carnahan also admitted that he would jump at the chance to direct a film based on DC/Vertigo's Preacher series.
"And the other thing I'm really keen on or interested in is Preacher, because I'm a big Garth Ennis fan and I love that series and that's out there, and that might be something… I really love that," he said.
Sam Mendes was previously attached to direct a Preacher film but has reportedly left the project.
The A-Team opens Friday, June 11 in US cinemas.
