Producer Scott Rudin has purchased the film rights to new biography Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life and wants Jolie to star in it, reports USA Today.
Rudin confirmed that the adaptation is "being developed for and with Jolie".
The author of the biography Stacy Schiff gave the idea her blessing.
"Physically, she's the perfect look," she said.
