Lea Michele will provide the voice of Dorothy in the upcoming animated musical Dorothy of Oz.

The production marks the first film role for the Glee actress, who will also provide vocals on several original songs, reports Variety.

The story is said to be an update on The Wizard of Oz and will revolve around Dorothy Gale's life in a post-tornado Kansas before returning to Oz in order to aid her friends. The script is currently being written by Randi Barnes, Adam Balsam and Barry Glasser.

Michele is joined by Jim Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Martin Short and Hugh Dancy.
