New Line Cinema have obtained the rights to adapt D.C. Comics' political thriller Ex Machina.
Created by Brian Vaughan and Tony Harris, the comic tells the story of a man who is given super powers by a freak accident. After living as a superhero for a while, he tries to change the world through the political arena, being elected Mayor of New York City by a landslide.
Far from being a plain superhero story, The Hollywood Reporter says that the comic also tackles such controversial issues as 9/11 and gay marriages.
Two scripts are being devised, one by Ex Machina's own Vaughan, and another by Glen Brunswick, who is involved in the production side of the venture as well as being co-creator of The Gray Area comic.
