The actress and singer revealed that her Monster-In-Law co-star Jane Fonda even encouraged her to make the career move.
"A lot of people have been saying that to me lately and I remember when Jane said it on the set," Lopez told Australian newspaper The Sunday Mail.
"I won't say I haven't thought about it, because I have, but I just don't know. I always thought that directing took up so much of your life and I don't know if I could do it because of that.
"I would have to feel passionate about it. We'll see if a project comes along that makes me feel that way."
Speaking about the time that she spent with Fonda, Jennifer added, "We did get along and I found her fascinating.
"Obviously I was very excited to know that Jane was even interested in doing the movie and it was even more exciting to know that after 15 years [in retirement] she would choose to do it with me. It was a real honour."
