Julia Dawn Cole, who played spoilt brat Veruca Salt in the 1971 version, thinks that Roald Dahl would have enjoyed the adaptation of his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story.
"I think it's as good as the original and my son Barney says it's better," Cole is quoted by Femalefirst.co.uk as saying.
"Roald Dahl didn't like our film but I'm convinced he would have loved this version. It picks up on all of the darker elements of his story, which kids love.
"I wouldn't say it is better than the original as that will always be special to me."
