Animated family adventure Madagascar has entered the U.K. box office chart at number one, taking £5.4m in its first weekend.
War of the Worlds dropped into second with earnings of £2.2m, giving it a three-week total of £21.9m. New entry Wedding Crashers took third place, whilst Batman Begins and The Descent filled out the top five.
