According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star and filmmakers are in early negotiations to make the Marvel Comics picture, which centres on a stunt motorcyclist who pacts with the devil to save the life of a loved one.
Reports emerged earlier in the year claiming that Columbia Pictures was considering making the second Ghost Rider without Cage.
David Goyer and FlashForward writers Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman worked on a script for the sequel, but Neveldine and Taylor are expected to rewrite it should they sign up to make the comic book movie.
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance is being eyed for a production start this autumn.
