Russell Crowe is attached to star in the big screen remake of The Equalizer, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The Robin Hood actor is allegedly keen to play New York vigilante Robert McCall in the feature adaptation of the CBS show.

The Equalizer, which ran for four seasons between 1985 and 1989, starred the late Edward Woodward as McCall, a secret agent who worked for a mysterious organisation referred to only as 'The Agency' or 'The Company'.

Producers Mace Neufeld (Invictus), Alex Siskin (Mr Deeds) and Escape Artists (The Taking Of Pelham 123) are behind the Equalizer revamp.
