The Gossip Girl star joins a cast that includes Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener.
Director Bruce Beresford's multi-generational drama centres on a conservative lawyer named Diane (Keener) who takes her family to live with their hippie grandmother (Fonda) in Woodstock.
Crawford will play war-protesting butcher who flirts with Diane's daughter, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Production is expected to begin in July in New York's Hudson River Valley.
