Universal Pictures has bought the rights for an adaptation of Sony Computer Entertainment's video game God of War, reports Variety.
The game, which was released in March, lets players assume the role of Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior on a quest to destroy Ares, God of War. Mythological creatures such as Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra and various puzzles stand in his way.
No writers or director have been linked to the project, though Mosaic's Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will produce.
