The comedian's manager recently confirmed the casting to The Wrap.
Oswalt joins John Cho and Kal Penn in the 3D comedy sequel, which is thought to be set ten years after Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay.
Details on the actor's role have not been reported.
Oswalt is known for his parts in United States of Tara, Caprica and Ratatouille.
