Newcomer Kenny Wormald has won the lead role of Ren, played by Kevin Bacon in the original film.
Dennis Quaid also joins the picture as Reverend Moore. John Lithgow portrayed the first incarnation.
Further, Miles Teller has landed the supporting role of Willard, originally played by the late Chris Penn.
The actors join the previously cast Julianne Hough in the project, directed by Craig Brewer.
The update is scheduled for a 2011 release.
